Wildwood Dancing

If you enjoy fairy tales, you'll enjoy Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier. It has parts of the 12 Dancing Princesses as well as the Frog Prince involved. This story involves five sisters, in which their father has left the cold climate of their home in Transylvania to recover his health in warmer weather.

While the girls consider themselves competent in handling finances, they soon find themselves in a rut, with an overbearing cousin butting in and wanting to take over the household. But the girls have a secret, every full moon a portal opens to another world, where they dance the night away.

Add in a dark suitor, one that belongs to darker folk of the forest and a forbidden love between himself and the eldest sister Tati. We've plainly got trouble. Jena is the most responsible of sisters and tries her best to handle the household, an overbearing cousin, and a budding romance that simply cannot be.

The only real aide she has is her wits and the help of her beloved frog - Gogo. Only, he also is not as he seems.

I really just loved listening to the audiobook version of this novel. It had all the qualities of a well written fairy tale and I highly recommend it.

5/5 Roses

  1. I think an audio book would be very cool with this story. I need to check the library and see if they have it. Also, the cover is beautiful!
