ALA Day Two

Hello again! Welcome to day 2. How am I still awake? Starbucks. I had an Iced Mocha on the way back home, which is helping me write this as we speak. That and Icy Hot.

Today was another great day at ALA. This time I went with my friend Jen, who sadly didn't make it into a picture, because both of us forgot and the fact that she ended up taking most of these pictures. Jen works with me at my part-time night job at the local community college. I coerced her into spending the day with me and we had a lot of fun.

I met up again with Chelsea from The Page Flipper and Kristi from The Story Siren, who stood in a few lines with me and we bumped elbows a few other times during the day as well.

Now I know in my last post, I had already visited Kimberly Pauley for her signing of the book Sucks to be Me. Here's what happened - My poor mother was at ALA on Saturday with her public library coworkers. She called me that night saying she had only gotten 1 book - yes, you heard me - 1! So, I told her I'd try my darndest to pick her up some books. I managed to get 4 signed books for her (I begged a few authors to sign two for me.. one for me, one for her..) and 3 other books that I thought she'd like. You can't tell but Kimberly is wearing vampire teeth, how fun is that?

I did meet Sarah Ockler, I hopefully will make her signing tomorrow (didn't want to drag another book around). She was awesome and stood in line with the girls and I to wait for Scholastic's 6 author awesomeness - Maggie Stiefvater, Patricia Wrede, Patrick Carmen and a few more.

Here I am getting A Great and Terrible Beauty signed by Libba Bray. I was so sad that they ran out of Going Bovine literally 4 people in front of me. The girl behind me took some pictures of her signing with me and I took some in turn for her. (My friend was off holding spots in another line).

And here I am, totally exhuasted, surrounded by yet another load of books.

The totals are in - I got 47 free books today, some duplicates (probably for some contests this month...).

I also got some free E-books - one of which was Rampant! :)

And tons more bookmarks, posters, etc.

Here's a few highlights of the book titles I got (most are ARCs):
  • Hazel by Julie Hearn
  • War Games by Audrey and Akila Couloumbis
  • The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  • Troubadour by Mary Hoffman
  • Signed copy of Stealing Death by Janet Lee Carey
  • Signed copy of The Espressologist by Kristina Springer
  • Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
  • Signed hardcover of The Thirteenth Child by Patricia Wrede
  • Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
  • Hidden Talents by David Lubar
  • How to Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford
  • Crash into Me by Albert Borris
  • ghostgirl Homecoming
  • The Devil's Kiss by Sarwat Chadda
  • Break by Hannah Moskowitz
  • A signed ARC of Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
  • Signed hardcover of Heartsinger by Karlijn Stoffels
  • Another Faust by Daniel and Dina Nayeri (I can't believe I found this!)

I'm not sure what I'll encounter tomorrow, but I'm crossing my fingers for another copy of Catching Fire. I also will hopefully get North of Beautiful and Ash and signed!

Tune in tomorrow, if I'm not dead or disabled - I think it is time for another round of Icy Hot.

  1. Your second day at ALA sounds like it was a ton of fun (and quite a success)! I hope day three is even better (if that's possible, of course).
