I said on twitter last night that I wasn't going to post, but here I am, 5:30 am, posting. I'm so tired...
Onward!
This week, only two finds:
Description from goodreads:
What would happen if an author went back to the darker themes of the original fairy tales for his plots, and then crossed the Disney princesses with Charlie's Angels? What's delivered is The Stepsister Scheme -- a whole new take on what happened to Cinderella and her prince after the wedding. And with Jim C. Hines penning the tale readers can bet it won't be "and they lived happily ever after".
Description from Goodreads:
What would happen if a star writer went back to the darker themes of the original fairy tales for plots, and then crossed the Disney princesses with Charlie’s Angels? What he’d end up with is The Mermaid’s Madness—a whole new take on The Little Mermaid. And with Jim C. Hines, of Jig the Goblin fame, penning the tale, you can bet it won’t be “They lived happily ever after.”
Sounds pretty good, right? They're part of the same series. I saw this randomly around the blogosphere and thought the covers were pretty. I also am a sucker for fairy tale retellings.
What did you guys find?

I do like the covers! I also like the icon you have come up with for your "Friday Finds"!
ReplyDeleteI just read both of those myself! :)
ReplyDeleteThis week my finds are, erm, rather numerous. Embarrassingly so, perhaps...
I dont' like the cover, but The Stepsister Schemes looks...well, actually interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the upcoming Claire de Lune by Johnson.
Wow ok, these books seems very original, I'll have to check out your review if you read them =P
ReplyDeleteI like the covers too! I haven't read anything like that before, and this sounds interesting =)
ReplyDeleteHmm I've never heard of these books. Thanks for pointing them out. I will have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteI havent heard of these books before but I love fairytale retellings. Also the cover the Stepsister Scheme reminds me of a manga cover.
ReplyDeleteI love fairy tale retellings and I have always wondered what happened after 'and they lived happily every after' endings. Cool finds. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Jim C. Hines! Haven't read The Mermaid's Madness yet, but The Stepsister Scheme was great! He's a very talented and very funny writer. I'd also recomment his goblin series, which while funny, is different from his princess books. Looking forward to your reviews for these two! Great finds! :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard of Jim Hines a while back. I love the jacket blurbs and I keep thinking I need to get down and read his books one of these days!
ReplyDeletehmmmm, interesting. They don't seem like books I would pick up. I will be curious to read your reviews, maybe you have a hidden treasure.
ReplyDeleteThese don't just sound good to me, they sound awesome. I love a new twist on an old story, as long as it's done right. I really like the covers too.
ReplyDeleteHmm. These book covers are interesting.
