Prophecy of the Sisters

Prophecy of the Sisters
by Michelle Zink

Lia has lost her mother and now her father. Her twin sister Alice remains cool and distant and her younger brother is disabled in a wheelchair and a solemn boy. But Lia has James, the son of one of her father's friends and her lover.

All goes awry when Lia discovers a strange marking on her wrist one morning. A marking she finds that she does not share with her twin. She finds a small book describing a prophecy - one that involves both her and Alice - but the problem is - they have different ideas on how they want the prophecy to end. They are now enemies and Lia must find a way to complete her side of the prophecy without being harmed or harming her beloved sister.

It is really hard to summarize a book that is so complex and dark. I really do believe "gothic" describes this book perfectly -with the supernatural themes and romance.

So let me break this down. I love the characters.. the struggle between the sisters of loving each other but being on opposite sides of beliefs in relation to the prophecy.. the love scenes.. and most definitely the intrigue. It took me a while to get into the mood of it, to really put myself into the picture it was creating in my head. I like a book that makes me think, that transports me to a different world in a different time.

So, I think I should go and raid Michelle's house to find the manuscript of the second book. Because... by the end of the book I really needed more. I felt so connected and enthralled that I feel I cannot wait for the next one.

So, for all of the beautiful writing, intriguing plot, and engaging characters, I must give this book 5 Roses.

5/5 Roses

  6. This book sounds so interesting - the relationship between the sisters and all the siblings, the dark turn it takes when they feel differently about the prophecy and I wonder if the death of their mother colors any of this...

    Wonderful review! Thank you!
