A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

I really just had to read this today. I just had this nagging - read it - feeling that made me grab up the novel. Then, I had a better idea and went on the library website and downloaded a free audio of the book. I went through some of my boxes in the office while listening to this awesome Christmas tale that keeps getting remade.

I really want to see the animated version of the tale that is coming out this season. I was, however, surprised by the shortness of the novel - compared to Dickens' other works. Definitely a great story and most of the movie versions are so incredibly true to the actual novel.

5/5 Roses

  1. I watched Christmas Carol in 3D a few days ago, it was awesome!!! I'm curious to see whether it follows the book closely. It was kind of confusing because I never read it before. I'll pick it up on my next library visit! ^^

  2. My students just read a play version of this story. Then we compared it to a movie version. It was fun to get their take on it. We talked a lot about how it was written partly to encourage giving and helping of the poor.

  4. I just reviewed this one too. Wasn't it great? So much better than all the spin offs.

  5. I read this for the first time this year and loved it. For some reason I found myself liking Scrooge more in the book then I ever have in the movie adaptations.

  8. I read this for the first time this year and the new movie with Jim Carrey remains surprisingly true to the book.

I really enjoyed the book, but I didn't care too much for the movie.
