Why I read this: I really enjoyed the first in this series, so I jumped at the opportunity to read the next one.

Plot: The second book takes off where the last one ended. Besides the big bad enemy (the Reapers), there is a new threat in Chicago - slimy yucky creatures who seemed to have appeared from nowhere. Add some romance, cryptic help from the boy who triggered her magic, a discovery about her parents, Lily has some issues on hand to solve during this book. Get ready for another kick-butt adventure with the second installment of the Dark Elite series.

Characters: Lily is still coming into herself in this book. She's got a lot on her plate along with a new relationship - with a werewolf nonetheless. I like how much she stays in touch with her parents, it's nice to know they are still around in her life, even if only by text messages and phone calls.

Scout is over the top at times and I really was hoping she would express more interest in the boy who is crushing on her, but she doesn't. Maybe in book three?

Relatability: Fans of paranormal YA will love this book, especially if they like a bit of romance added in.

Cover Commentary: Love it. Definitely a book that needs to be on my bookshelf.
