Review: Reckless

Author: Cornelia Funke
Publication Date: September 2010
Genre: YA Fantasy
Copy provided by: Library (audiobook)
Summary (via Goodreads):

Beyond the mirror, the darkest fairy tales come alive. . . .

For years, Jacob Reckless has enjoyed the Mirrorworld’s secrets and treasures.

Not anymore.

His younger brother has followed him.

Now dark magic will turn the boy to beast, break the heart of the girl he loves, and destroy everything Jacob holds most dear. . . .

Unless he can find a way to stop it.

Why I read this: I found the audiobook of this at the library one day and since I absolutely adore Cornelia Funke, I had to check it out.

Plot: A thrilling plot about a teenage boy who escapes into a different world, only to have his little brother follow him and cause him to embark on the greatest adventure of his life yet. The one that will hopefully save his brother from turning into a goyle. But to do so, he must get past the Goyle army, revisit a dangerous fairy, and trust those that have betrayed him in the past. A story of love, brotherly devotion, and otherworldly adventures, Reckless is a story that will wow and amaze you.

Characters: I just fell in love with both of the brothers. One was so incredible wonderful and giving, the other dashing and daring and dark. The other characters found in this book are full of such depth and personality, I did not want it to end.

Relatability: Fans of fantasy and Funke's books will really enjoy this new adventure.

Cover Commentary: Love it, quite creepy.

Rating: 5/5 Roses
