Clear Away the Clutter Mini-Challenge

Kate at The Neverending Shelf is hosting this awesome mini challenge. Here are the details!

Clear Away the Clutter's purpose:

If you are like me, you have an abundant amount of review and TBR books that need desperately your attention. This mini challenge will challenge you to read and do something with those titles once they have been completed.

Your goal is read as many titles as you can and pass along those that you do not absolutely want to keep. This means that if you do not plan to reread a certain book at least once or twice... get rid of it, it is just clutter.

Guidelines:

  • The mini challenge begins March 1st and ends May 31st. You can join at anytime once the challenge as begun.
  • Anyone is welcome to participate in the mini challenge.
  • By the end of the challenge, you MUST get rid of all the titles that you do not absolutely love. You can hold a contest, donate, give to a friend, etc. Your ultimate goal here is to clean off your shelves.
  • You do not have to have a blog to participate. If you are interested, please email me at neverendingshelf@gmail.com for more information.
  • Please create a post for titles you plan to read. You can of course update and modify this list at any time.
  • Once a novel is completed, let us know what you plan to do with it. You can put this information beside the title in your challenge list post. Right now, I am planning to host a large contest for all the novels that I read and do not absolutely love at the end of the challenge.
  • Crossover with other Challenges is welcome.

Levels:
  • Packrat: Read and clean out 5 titles
  • Mini-packrat: Read and clean out 10 titles
  • Organizer: Read and clean out 15 titles
  • Cleaner: Read and clean out 20 titles

Personally, I'm attempting the Cleaner Level, but we'll see. I'm not sure how many of the books I read I'll be giving away. Most of the books will be put into a blogoversary contest - much like my Birthday Bash - that is coming up in June, just in time for this to end.

I'll be keeping track on this post how I'm doing!

Books Won Reading Challenge

Books Won Reading Challenge
Hosted by Teddy over at So Many Precious Books, So Little Time
January 2 - December 31, 2010

I'm going for Gold: Read 10 or more books you won.

The Rules:
1. You must write a review for each book that you read for it to count. If you do not have a blog you can write your reviews on a place like Amazon, Powell's, Chapters, etc.
2.Crossovers with other challenges are okay.
3. Audiobooks count, as long as you won them. As do won e-books.
4. You can change up levels but cannot go back down a level.
5. Make a list of the books won that you plan to read for the challenge. You can always make changes to the list.

Here are the books I've won that I want to get through:
1. Life of Glass by Jillian Cantor.
2.
Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr
3. Strange Angels by Lili St. Crow

4. Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready
5. Black Magic Sanction by Kim Harrison
6. Incarceron by Catherine Fisher
7. The Year the Swallows Came Early by Kathryn Fitzmaurice
8. Operation Redwood by S. Terrell French
9. Jane in Bloom by Deborah Lytton
10. Initiation by Susan Fine

I'll probably finish these and then read some others that I have won as well... because those books up there.. I won in June and July and STILL have not read. I know, I'm horrible!

Teddy will be putting up a Mr. Linky each month so you can post your reviews as well! :)

Cybils Award Challenge

Michelle over at Galleysmith is hosting a great contest to get us reading some of the chosen books from 2009 to be up for the Cybils award.

I am going to be ... insane. And I am going to ATTEMPT to finish three categories this year. Yes, I am insane.

I'm going for the level of participation of
  • Categorically Speaking – choose to read all books in a category
And I am going to try to read all of the books in these three Categories:

I was going to go easy on myself but if I do that last one I'll be knocking out a ton of my TBR pile and that's one of my goals for this coming year... I'm attempting not to buy two more bookshelves...

So, wish me luck and I am waiting to be barraged with the "You are totally insane girl" comments. :)

Graphic Novels Challenge 2010

I'm really racking up some challenges so far, but this one I really need to jump on board with. My graphic novel reading has been... slacking. So, I thought to myself, why not join this challenge for next year!

I've got a bunch sitting at my apartment needing to be read.

Here's the rules:

  • The challenge starts on January 1st 2010 and ends on December 31st (but we don't mind you starting early.)
  • You don't have to make a list beforehand (but you can, of course! Lists are great because they give ideas to people who aren't sure what to read. And if you do make one, don't feel forced to stick to it!)
  • We simplified the levels of participation: you can be a Beginner (3 Comics or Graphic Novels), Intermediate (3-10) or an Expert (10+). You're more than free to adjust your level of participation after the challenge has begun.
  • There will be mini-challenges! Look for a post with more info on that soon.
  • Overlaps with other challenges are totally fine.
I'm going for Expert level. I hope to read more than 10, but at least need to read that many.

I'll update them on this post. :) Click on the cool button above to join up!

2010 Reading From My Shelf Project

With the new year coming up, I've been finding myself pulled towards all of these great challenges and projects. This one, hosted by Bilbliophile By the Sea is great because it's going to force me to get through my TBR pile and get them out of my apartment.
