Hi guys! I'm joining in on the fun that is the Gothic Film Club, hosted by Write for a Reader and is sponsored by the glorious, wonderful Michelle Zink, author of Prophecy of the Sisters.
I chose to watch The Changeling this week - with the famous Angelina Jolie featured in it. I was surprised to find this movie on the shelf at the library - it being a newer release. So I nabbed it and forced my fiance to watch it with me when he got home from work.
I must say, this is the type of movie where you get so involved, you want to strangle some characters - or at least cuss them out. I know I let a few F bombs drop during this movie. The basic premise is that a young boy of 9 goes missing. The mother is a single mother and after 5 months of searching, the police find a boy matching that description. Only, she knows this is not her son.
I loved the pace of this movie, how it kept you moving with the story, but not too fast. Characters were introduced with enough intrigue and back story that you really felt like they were alive. The movie is based on true events, which I could definitely see happening.
If you like movies that make you become involved in the story line, this is the movie for you.

This movie is every mother's nightmare! Freaked me out about it all.
ReplyDeleteI really thought it was brilliant. So sad it's true....
I had turned the movie on to help me fall asleep, but it did ANYTHING but that. I lay awake after it was done just thinking about how horrible it all was....true stories always do that to me.
Good movie. Brilliant acting. Everyone should see this.
I was the only one out of the four people that watched this movie that loved it. The acting is great and so is the pacing. It'd make the perfect book.

ReplyDeleteI've head a lot about Changeling, but somehow ended up never watching it. Now I know that I MUST watch it. I mean, 5 outta 5? Whew!
ReplyDeleteI must be stuck in my own little hole because I haven't heard of Changeling. It sounds good though. I like movies that are based on true events.

ReplyDeleteThe Changeling is a GREAT movie. If you get a chance, google the "Chicken Coop Murders". It's based on a true story.

The movie sounds good but I don't really like Angelina Jolie. Maybe if someone in my family will watch it with me, I will. Great review though!
ReplyDeleteI loved this movie. Angelina Jolie was fantastic in it. I know a lot of people do not like her, but I happen to be one of those who do. I think she is a good actress and her eyes really send the messages that her character is trying to get across. Great review.
