Sunday Spotlight - Spellbound by Books

Today I have with me a cool blogger whose blog is so fabulous I can't even believe it. I love the name of her blog as well! :) Check her out below.

Name:
Melissa
Nickname and/or blog name: Spellbound By Books
Blog URL: http://spellboundbybooks.blogspot.com

Tell me a bit about yourself.
I'm 25 year old Aussie mum, of a 14 month old. Sometimes I feel like I've got two kids when my other half is home. I absolutely love reading, so much so that I would choose a book over a movie majority of the time. Writing has been another thing I love doing, although, since having the little one, and starting my blog (plus reading) I haven't had as much time to write.

When and why did you start your blog?
I'd been wanting to start a blog for a while to keep track of what I've read, what I want to read and what I thought about them. I did come across Goodreads shortly after but I still wanted to create a blog as well. It just so happened that after I'd come back from my Valentines Dinner, Parajunkee had my blog layout ready, so I got to work and had it up that night.

What is your blog all about? Any cool features you want to share?
My blog is mostly YA, but because I read alot of different genres it's more of a "Mostly YA, and a bit of this and that thrown in." At the moment on my blog I have In My Mailbox on Sundays and Waiting on Wednesdays. I've only just added Sticky Beak (Mondays), which is a Feature that I give bloggers the chance to add in links that they have come across and would like to share, as well as a list of blogs, author sites, writing sites etc I'd love to share with others. Since there are so many wonderful book blogs etc there, as much as I'd love to, I don't have enough time to visit every single one o them. So this gives others a chance to share ones they have come across. Another feature that will be coming soon will be Once Upon a Time but I haven't worked out the details for this yet.

What are some of your favorite genres and/or books currently?
I read a mix of genres, YA, Urban Fantasy, Dystopian, Paranormal Romance, Crime/Mystery, etc. My Favourite books of the moment: Dog On It by Spencer Quinn (which the narrator is a dog), Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, and Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

How do you find out about the books you read?
I usually find most books to read from other Book Blogger websites, as well as whatever I find that interests me at the bookstore. You gotta love the sales!!

Any tips or advice for those starting or thinking about starting a blog?
Plan it. I went in without a plan and have since had to rearrange pages and content a few times. Better to go in with an idea of how you want your information organized! It makes things easier down the track. Also, remember not to add too many widgets and pictures to your main page. Your page will load a lot faster.

Thank you Melissa for stopping by today! If you haven't seen her blog yet, take a look - it is awesome! :)
