Sunday Spotlight - The Allure of Books

Today I have with me a fun gal named Allison who I knew previously from Goodreads. She recently started a blog and it's really taking off! Learn more about her and her blog below!

Name:
Allison
Nickname and/or blog name: The Allure of BooksBlog URL: http://theallureofbooks.blogspot.com

Tell me a bit about yourself.
My name is Allison, and I'm 23 years old. I live in Oklahoma, and I'm still working through school where I hope to end up with a Masters Degree in Library Science. I love reading, going to movies, being with friends and hanging out with my spoiled dog. I have a very loud/weird sense of humor that I try to control most of the time so I don't scare people.

When and why did you start your blog?
I've been blogging less than a month, and I started it after following other book blogs for several months. I love to talk about books and I don't have a lot of other friends that enjoy reading. I have a lot of fun talking about books on Goodreads and decided to take the next step and start a blog! Such a great online community to be a part of.

What is your blog all about? Any cool features you want to share?
Well, since I haven't been blogging for very long I'd say the most important thing I'm working on is having my blog reflect the fact that I love reading a lot of different types of books. I've also been having a lot of fun talking about my favorite characters once a week.

What are some of your favorite genres and/or books currently?
I love reading fantasy, historical fiction and all types of YA. You don't really want to get me started rattling off all my favorites, but I definitely have to say the Harry Potter and Anne of Green Gables series are my absolute favorites. Otherwise I seem to be recommending The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen the most recently.

How do you find out about the books you read?
I usually get interested in books though recommendations from friends on Goodreads or other book blogs. Sometimes its just a matter of browsing through the thrift store.

Any tips or advice for those starting or thinking about starting a blog?
The advice I've found the most helpful is to have fun with it and be yourself. Don't worry about trying to sound or look like other blogs, just do your own thing. As a new blogger, I have to say that while it is a huge time commitment, it is so much fun and so worth it in the end!

Contest Alert!
Allison is currently holding a contest for a pre-order of Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. It ends July 14th, so hurry over and ENTER NOW.

Thank you Allison for stopping by! I think your blog really reflects how much you love reading and I hope you keep blogging so I can keep reading it!
