2011 Outdo Yourself Reading Challenge (K)

Outdo Yourself Reading Challenge

I'm excited to join this LAST (I swear) reading challenge, hosted by The Book Vixen.

Details:

* Runs January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 (books read prior to 1/1/11 do not count towards the challenge).
* The goal is to outdo yourself by reading more books in 2011 than you did in 2010. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you. Nothing is set in stone; you can change levels at any time during the challenge.
* Books can be any format (bound, eBook, audio).
* Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are fine.
* You can list your books in advance or list them as you read them. It is not required that you review the books you read for this challenge but feel free to do so.
* Post this reading challenge on your blog so you can keep a list of the books you’ve read for this challenge. Please include a link back to this post so readers can join the challenge too.
* You do not have to be a book blogger to participate. You can keep tabs on books you’ve read for this challenge on Goodreads or LibraryThing if you’d like (maybe make a shelf for “Outdo Yourself Reading Challenge”). If you are not on either of those sites then you can list the books you read for this challenge in the comments on my wrap-up post, which will be up at the end of 2011.

Levels:
Getting my heart rate up – Read 1–5 more books
Out of breath – Read 6–10 more books
Breaking a sweat – Read 11–15 more books
I’m on fire! – Read 16+ more books

I'm going with the I'm on Fire! Level. I've only read 274 books (and my goal was 300) so I will once again aim for 300 and hope I make it this time! I'll be keeping count below.

  1. I think I joined that challenge too, or at least a similar challenge. I kept my goals on it low, though, saying that I only wanted to read 6-10 more books in 2011 than I did in 2010. This was, however, before assuming the challenge to read 100 books or more next year, which would make the count well over 10 more books! Maybe I should update that goal accordingly. :p

best of luck with the challenge!

  2. I read 314 books last year so I don't really want to go any higher. I think I'll try to keep it closer to 200-250. I think this is a great challenge though.

  3. Definitely signing on for this. Had a lot of writing/revising to do last year, so definitely going to try for I'm on fire this year. Embarassed to say I'm not sure how many books I read last year, but I'm sure I didn't get past 100 so I'm going to set my sights on at least 101 (and hopefully many more).

  4. Wow, 275 books?!!! I didn't even make 100! I'm definitely going to try to read 100 books in 2011. Thanks for participating!

  6. Good luck with your challenge! I'm aiming for 250 books again (what I read in 2009; this year I only read 238) but I'm worried my lack of time spent on a bus (because I'm not commuting to school anymore!) this year will hurt my reading time, lol.

  7. That is an amazing goal to set; and you were so close last time! Good luck with this :) I think I am going to go for 75.

  8. Good luck on this challenge!
FYI, if you're interested in discovering Childrens/YA books you might not have previously heard of (though you're a librarian, so I'm sure you know everything already ;)), I just started my fist reading challenge complete with monthly giveaways! :)

You don't have to read a certain number of books to reach a certain level, so maybe it could help you reach the goal of this challenge?
Would love to have you join if it’s something that at all interests you.
    Keep up the great blogging!
