Saturday Spotlight - My Words Ate Me

This week on Saturday Spotlight, we have a teen blogger from New Jersey who won't deny being a geek. Learn more about her below!

Name:
Isabella
Nickname and/or blog name: My Words Ate Me
Blog URL: http://mywordsateme.blogspot.com/

Tell me a bit about yourself.
I'm a teen writer and reader, and I live in New Jersey. My hobbies include writing, reading, math, and generally being a social outcast. The way I see it, people who like to write and read can be geeks, people who like math can be geeks, and compound this with the fact that I am inherently a geek, I'm a triple geek! It makes me feel special inside when I'm doing something socially awkward, like running around and stabbing people with sporks.

When and why did you start your blog?
I started my blog on June 26th of this year (I know, I know, I'm such a newbie!). It seemed like a generally fun thing to do, and I've always wanted to be a part of the blogosphere rather than just stalk other people's blogs. Plus, on my lazy days, I can write blog posts and tell myself that yes, indeed, I reached my word count minimum.

What is your blog all about? Any cool features you want to share?
I vary the post content. I post around three book reviews a week, and I do Book Blogger Hop on Fridays. On Saturdays, I have a feature called "More Spotlight, Please!", where I write a little bit about a book that hasn't had as much attention in the blogging community that I think should. I also have a feature on Sundays called "Cover Love" where I show off beautiful covers for various books. My most popular posts are on Tuesdays, where I attempt to write something funny :)

What are some of your favorite genres and/or books currently?
I read and review almost exclusively YA, and within YA, I read nearly every genre. The only genres I don't like as much are thrillers and high fantasy, but I will try books from those genres if they seem to be very good. Some books I've loved recently are "Mostly Good Girls", "Hate List", "Leftovers", "North of Beautiful", "Liar", "Infinite Days", and "The Replacement". Although I enjoy funny books too, I especially like dark fiction, be it creepy or sad.

How do you find out about the books you read?
Almost exclusively from book blogs! I have a to-be-read list with 370 books on it, and it gets longer every day.

Any tips or advice for those starting or thinking about starting a blog?
Post regularly, and try to keep a schedule. It's okay if you can't post every day a week, but try to find something that works for you, like a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule or something. Be sure to visit other people's blogs when you can and make thoughtful comments. What also really helps is to participate in memes like Book Blogger Hop or Follow Friday - those two are especially good at putting your blog out there!

Thank you Izzy for stopping by the blog this week!
