News:
  • Wednesday night, I flew out of work to go to Holly Black's prepublication event for White Cat - hosted at Anderson's Bookshop. Holly was fantastic and even wore gloves throughout the evening (pertains to something important in her novel).
  • I spent Thursday night in the company of the legendary Tamora Pierce. I was able to snag a seat at her table during NIU's 30th Annual Children's Conference. She was fantastic. I can't even tell you how on top of the world I felt eating dinner with her. Her talk was on how authors are pirates and how she stole from many different things in order to create her books.
  • I also spent all day Friday at the conference as well and met some cool authors and learned a bit about science fiction for primary grades.
  • I'm going to meet Carrie Ryan tomorrow and am VERY excited. :)
